Department of the Quarter

Looking back nearly seven years to March 21, 2005, the Housekeeping Department was presented the very first Department of the Quarter Award at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.

Although staffing has changed considerably since then, the outcome remains the same - a glistening facility. Vickie Dean and Bob Ramsey were the only two current Housekeeping Aides working at BCMH in 2005 and since then, they have been instrumental in training new staff members to continue the tradition of maintaining a clean hospital. Sharon Gaston, Assistant Administrator - Operations and Housekeeping Supervisor states, “I was very proud during a recent Board of Directors’ meeting when the cleanliness of the hospital was listed as one of the top four things BCMH is known for.” She adds, “Even with 50% of the staff off work recently due to illness, the others continued to work as a team and covered shifts going above and beyond to keep our hospital clean.” Patients routinely note the cleanliness of BCMH on satisfaction surveys verifying that a clean hospital helps enhance our image in the community. Furthermore, Housekeeping Staff worked diligently to clean the new Same Day Surgery area ‘from top to bottom’ including waxing the floors during recent renovations. The curtains previously used in the Physical Therapy area were also altered by Vickie Dean making them usable in the new Surgery area and saving the hospital a considerable amount of money. Congratulations to the Housekeeping Department. Their dedicated efforts in making Braxton County Memorial Hospital shine are greatly appreciated!
