Artist of the Month - December 2011

Jeanette Shreves was chosen as Artist of the Month for December 2011.

Charged with the many responsibilities of a Materials Assistant, Jeanette’s smiling face accompanies each and every delivery she makes throughout Braxton County Memorial Hospital. Leica King works as a Ward Clerk on Med Surg and in the Emergency Department, two areas which require daily stocking. She states, “Jeanette Shreves deserves credit for a great job and she’s always just a call away.” Becki Cochran, a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, remembers a day when Jeanette stopped her regular routine on several occasions to provide them with special items, “She never said ‘wait a minute’ or ‘I’ll get it later’. She promptly responded to my requests with a smile as always.”

Even when she is not working, Jeanette makes herself available to her coworkers when they need supplies. Both the Community Health Center and Emergency Department Staff realized their supply of ear wicks had been depleted at the same time. After attempting to contact Materials Management by phone, Jill Cottrill, RN / Nurse Manager for Cardiopulmonary and the Emergency Department, paged overhead and received a return call from Jeanette who was being seen as a patient in the facility. Although she was not working at the time, Jeanette responded to Jill’s request and delivered the supplies shortly thereafter. Jill states, “This is an example of her dedication to her job. She is always cheerful, friendly and helpful anytime you need supplies. She has also organized the ED supply room and strives to keep it organized.”

Jeanette and her husband of 15 years, William, have one son, William Lee, age 14. She also has a son from a previous marriage, Joseph II, age 27, and a grandson, Joseph, age 3. Her hobbies include scrapbooking, hiking, riding 4-wheelers, swimming and target shooting. She also enjoys riding her Yamaha 250 Virago as well as her husband’s motorcycle, a 1300 Yamaha V-star. BCMH sincerely appreciates Jeanette’s cheerful attitude and dedication to making sure we all have the supplies needed to care for our patients!
